Our Services

Turnkey outside plant construction — from locates and permits to splicing, testing, and closeout.

WHAT WE DELIVER

One Contractor, Start to Finish

Sun Utilities self-performs the full underground scope of a fiber build: directional drilling, trenching and plowing, conduit and cable placement, fusion splicing, OTDR-documented testing, and last-mile installation. Our crews work urban, suburban, and rural rights-of-way across Florida and the Southeast, and we close every job with restoration and documentation your project managers can hand straight to the customer.

UNDERGROUND

Underground Construction

We place mainline conduit, duct banks, handholes, and vaults in every terrain a route crosses — from tight urban corridors to rural cross-country runs. Every dig starts with 811 utility locates and potholing where existing utilities demand it, and every segment is installed to the depth and separation your specs and local codes require.

Our crews run their own equipment, so production never waits on a rental yard. Whether the print calls for a single duct or a multi-duct bank with vaults on grade, we hold line and depth, sweep tails cleanly into handholes, and proof every pathway before we call a segment complete.

  • Trenching & vibratory plowing
  • Missile boring under driveways & sidewalks
  • Handholes, vaults & pedestal placement
  • Utility locates, potholing & depth compliance

TRENCHLESS

Horizontal Directional Drilling

When a route crosses a road, a wetland, or a finished neighborhood, trenchless is the answer. Our HDD crews plan each shot, track the bore head throughout the drill, and pull back conduit with minimal surface disruption — so traffic keeps moving and lawns stay intact.

Every shot is planned before the rig sets up: locates verified, existing utilities potholed where the bore path crowds them, entry and exit pits cut clean and contained. Drilling fluid is managed and disposed of responsibly, and each pullback is logged so your as-builts show exactly where the duct sits.

  • Road, highway & waterway crossings
  • Bore planning, tracking & bore logs
  • Single & multi-duct conduit pullback
  • Congested-utility & tight-easement work

FIBER

Fiber Splicing & Testing

Splicing is where a build becomes a network, and it's where we hold the tightest tolerances. Our splicers work ribbon and loose-tube fiber in counts from drops to high-count backbone, build clean enclosures, and document every strand — because a splice that isn't tested and recorded isn't finished.

We splice to your standards and hand back documentation your OSP engineers can file without rework: OTDR traces shot in both directions, splice diagrams that match what's actually in the case, and labeling that matches the print. When a cutover window is tight, we plan the sequence in advance so live traffic moves once — and stays up.

  • Fusion splicing — ribbon & loose tube
  • Splice enclosures, cases & cabinet builds
  • OTDR testing, loss budgets & documentation
  • Turn-up, cutovers & ring closures

LAST MILE

Drops & Last-Mile Installation

The last few hundred feet are where the subscriber actually meets the network, and we treat them that way. Our installation crews handle buried service drops, multi-dwelling unit (MDU) wiring, and in-home activation with the same documentation discipline we bring to mainline work — and they leave the yard looking like they were never there.

In MDU and multifamily communities we coordinate directly with property management, work unit-by-unit on a schedule residents can live with, and keep common areas clean and passable throughout the build. Often our installer is the only person from the entire project a subscriber ever meets — so we send people who represent your brand the way you would.

  • MDU & customer premises wiring
  • ONT placement, router setup & activation
  • Troubleshooting, repairs & quality assurance

FULL SCOPE

Supporting Services

The work around the work — the pieces that keep a build moving and a network healthy.

Conduit & Cable Placement

Cable pulling, jetting, and air-assisted blowing through new and existing duct — with conduit proofing and mandreling so the pathway is verified before the fiber ever goes in. Whether it's duct we placed last week or aging pathway from a decade ago, the cable arrives at the splice point tested and undamaged.

Emergency Restoration

Fiber cuts don't wait for business hours, and neither do we. One call mobilizes a splice crew for emergency locates, splicing, and repair — restoring service first, then completing permanent repairs and updated documentation right behind it so the outage ends and stays ended.

Site Restoration & Closeout

Grading, sod, seed, and hardscape repair that returns every easement to pre-construction condition — plus punch-list walkthroughs and as-built redlines to close the job out clean. Restoration is the last thing a property owner sees of the whole project, and we treat it as the difference between a complaint call and a compliment.

HOW WE WORK

From Notice to Proceed to Closeout

A predictable process is what lets primes hand us a map and stop worrying about it.

1

Scope & Walk-Out

We walk the route, verify footage and conditions, and flag conflicts before the first crew rolls.

2

Locates & Permits

811 tickets, potholing, and traffic control plans — cleared and current before we break ground.

3

Construction

Boring, trenching, and conduit placement with daily production reporting you can trust.

4

Splice & Test

Fusion splicing, OTDR testing, and turn-up — every strand documented against the loss budget.

5

Restore & Close Out

Full site restoration, punch-list walkthrough, and as-builts delivered with the final invoice.

SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

Nobody Gets Hurt. Nothing Gets Hit.

Underground work is unforgiving, so our safety program isn't a binder on a shelf — it's how every day starts. Crews brief the day's hazards before the first machine starts, no dig begins without cleared locates, and equipment is inspected on a schedule, not on a hunch. We carry the insurance coverage our clients' contracts require and provide certificates on request.

  • 811 locate discipline on every dig
  • OSHA-trained crews & daily job briefings
  • PPE standards & equipment inspections
  • Fully insured, certificates on request
